Compounding the complexity, approximately half of the site was contaminated due to its proximity to a former petrol station. This contamination necessitated continuous safety oversight and environmental management throughout the duration of the project.
To address these challenges, our team implemented a series of strategic engineering solutions. A palisade wall was erected to provide additional structural support and enhance safety for the building situated on Great North Road. In addition, we constructed a perimeter wall using a solid H Pile system, which encompassed the entire site and ensured long-term stability and containment.
The execution of the project relied on a fleet of specialised equipment, including Ek90 and Ek60 machines, an RG16 rig, a crawler crane, and support excavators weighing 14 and 32 tons. These machines enabled efficient and precise foundation work, even under constrained urban conditions.
Throughout the project, safety management remained a top priority. Our team adhered to rigorous safety protocols to protect workers, the public, and the surrounding environment. Special attention was given to managing the contaminated zones and coordinating with local authorities to minimise disruption to nearby infrastructure and traffic.
This project stands as a testament to our team’s ability to deliver complex foundation solutions in challenging environments, with a strong emphasis on safety, environmental responsibility, and engineering excellence.
